Ferenc Nemeth Trio

Photo by Caterina Di Perri, via www.ferencnemeth.comWe've featured Hungarian-born drummer Ferenc Nemeth on our stage numerous times over the years, both with his own bands (including the CD releases of 2012's Triumph and his 2007 début, Night Songs) as well as in collaboration with saxophonist Javier Vercher, with whom he released a duo album, Imaginary Realm, last fall. Nemeth has also long been associated with guitarist Lionel Loueke and bassist Massimo Biolcati, who perform together under the name Gilfema and have released two albums on ObliqSound.More recently, Nemeth was featured on pianist Kenny Werner's latest release on Half Note Records, CoalitionThe multinational roster on that album includes Loueke, alto saxophonist Miguel Zenón, and Danish saxophonist Benjamin Koppel. We hope that you'll join us in welcoming Ferenc Nemeth back to our stage this weekend, but, in the meantime, take a listen to another iteration of his trio from 2012, featuring Chris Cheek on saxophone (who will be appearing on Saturday) and Loueke on guitar. The recording is from a radio broadcast on WBGO's The Checkout, and features music from Nemeth's 2012 release, Triumph. The Ferenc Nemeth Trio performs this Saturday, October 4th, 2014, at The Jazz Gallery. The performance will feature Nemeth on drums, Chris Cheek on saxophone, and Matt Garrison on bass.
