A native of Hartford, Connecticut, saxophonist Alden Hellmuth made her Jazz Gallery leader debut in 2023, performing shows with pianist Lex Korten, and her quintet Good Intentions. Since then, Hellmuth has moved to Los Angeles to study at the Herbie Hancock Institute at UCLA, and is about to release Good Intention’s self-titled debut next month. Take a spin with “Whirl,” the album’s lead single:

This week, Hellmuth returns to The Jazz Gallery with a new ensemble, Tether. The quartet features pianist Yvonne Rogers from Good Intentions, alongside bassist Tyrone Allen and drummer Eliza Salem.

Alden Hellmuth’s Tether plays The Jazz Gallery on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. The group features Ms. Hellmuth on saxophone, Yvonne Rogers on piano, Tyrone Allen on bass, and Eliza Salem on drums.
