The Jazz Gallery Presents: Angelic Sanchez Fellowship Commission

In June 2021, pianist Angelica Sanchez was one of the first performers to reopen The Jazz Gallery space to live performance after the emergence of COVID-19. For the hit, she invited drummer Billy Hart to join her and longtime collaborator Michael Formaneck in a trio. That collaboration yielded the new album Sparkle Beings (Sunnyside), released in 2022. This week, Sanchez returns to the Gallery to premiere her Jazz Gallery Fellowship Commission, featuring new compositions written especially for her band of trumpeter Kenny Warren, bassist John Hébert, and drummer Reggie Nicholson.

The Jazz Gallery 2023 Fellowship Commission Series presents the Angelica Sanchez Quartet on Friday, September 29, and Saturday, September 30, 2023. The group features Ms. Sanchez on piano & compositions, Kenny Warren on trumpet, John Hébert on bass, and Reggie Nicholson on drums. $30 general admission ($20 for members), $40 reserved cabaret seating ($30 for members), $20 livestream access ($5 for members) for each set.
