This week, we welcome drummer and composer Chad Taylor back to The Jazz Gallery stage with his quintet. Starting his career at a young age in Chicago, Taylor is a dynamic performer, and in-demand collaborator in New York & Chicago. While maintaining a busy touring schedule across the United States and Europe, Taylor now also teaches full time at the University of Pittsburgh.

Having just returned from a European tour with the James Brandon Lewis Trio, Taylor has hit the ground running with a brand new ensemble. The Chad Taylor Quintet plays the Gallery this week after making its debut at Solar Myth in Philadelphia. The quintet includes new collaborators and original music, as they prepare for an upcoming recording project together. Check out a track from Taylor’s most recent album as a leader below. 

Chad Taylor plays The Jazz Gallery on Thursday, July 18 with the Chad Taylor Quintet. The group features Chad Taylor on drums, Jonathan Finlayson on trumpet, Bryan Rogers on tenor sax, Victor Viera-Branco on vibraphone and Matt Engle on bass.
