The Jazz Gallery Presents: Joe Dyson Group
This Thursday, April 14th, The Jazz Gallery welcomes back drummer Joe Dyson to our stage. This past winter, Joe participated in our Mentorship Series alongside drummer Johnathan Blake. Playing in a two-drummer group is a unique challenge, but Dyson exhibited high musicianship that belied his young age, melding effortlessly into the group. This week, Dyson will bring a quartet of his peers to The Jazz Gallery—saxophonist Albert Rivera, pianist Zaccai Curtis, and bassist Parker McCalister—as well as a special surprise guest. If you've yet to check out Dyson's music, read his interview with Jazz Speaks and watch Dyson play an effortless and slinky funk groove with B3 organ master Dr. Lonnie Smith below. The Joe Dyson Group plays The Jazz Gallery on Thursday, April 14th, 2016.
