Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, guitarist Vincius Gomes has made musical connections across the globe. In 2018/19, Gomes was part of the Focusyear Basel cohort, a Swiss program similar to the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz. During the program, Gomes had the chance to collaborate with the likes of Ambrose Akinmusire, Mark Turner, and Guillermo Klein, while also starting up a tight musical relationship with Korean vocalist Song-Yi Jeon (check out their 2022 duo album below).

Since moving to New York, Gomes has collaborated frequently with pianist Jon Cowherd. This weekend, Cowherd & Gomes co-lead a quartet at The Jazz Gallery, presenting two sets of original compositions. Check out their spring 2021 performance at Soapbox Gallery to get a sense of their lyric agility.
