The Jazz Gallery Presents: Roy Hargrove Big Band

After an end-of-summer break, live performances return to The Jazz Gallery this Thursday, September 8, with two sets by the Roy Hargrove Big Band. This past spring, the band began a month residency at the Gallery, gathering many of Hargrove’s longtime collaborators to perform the master trumpeter & composer’s works.

Since the big band’s first performance was at the 1995 Greenwich Village Jazz Festival in Washington Square Park, it’s only fitting that the group got back to playing a New York summer jazz festival this year at the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning in Queens:

Don’t miss the Hargrove big band at their home base, where the group’s wall of sound hits with a rare immediacy.

The Roy Hargrove Big Band continues its residency at The Jazz Gallery on Thursday, September 8, 2022. The group features Keith Loftis, Mike Lee, Bruce Williams, Mark Gross, and Jason Marshall on reeds; Freddie Hendrix, Camerahn Alforque, Nathan Eklund, and Duane Eubanks on trumpets; Jason Jackson, James Burton, Rashaan Salaam, and Max Seigel on trombones; Tadataka Unno on piano; Saul Rubin on guitar; Danton Boller on bass; and Taru Alexander on drums. Sets are at 7:30 and 9:30 P.M. E.D.T. $35 general admission ($10 for members), $45 reserved cabaret seating ($20 for members) for each set. Purchase tickets here.
