The Jazz Gallery Presents: Scatter The Atoms That Remain
Drummer Franklin Kiermyer’s life has taken him from his hometown of Montreal, to New York’s downtown jazz scene, to the remote mountains of Nepal. He’s famously recorded with Coltrane collaborator Pharoah Sanders, and Kiermyer’s music is deeply inspired by that Coltrane-ian pursuit of transcendence and communion.
This Wednesday, August 3, Kiermyer brings his group Scatter The Atoms That Remain to The Jazz Gallery. Founded in 2017, the ensemble released their latest record Emancipation Suite earlier this year.
Alongside pianist/music director Davis Whitfield, saxophonist Abraham Burton, and bassist Yasushi Nakamura, Kiermyer and company seek conjure a slowly evolving musical ritual.
