Tony Tixier: Life of Sensitive Creatures
This Tuesday, November 1st, The Jazz Gallery is proud to welcome pianist Tony Tixier and his trio back to our stage. Along with bandmates Karl McComas-Reichl on bass and Tommy Crane on drums, Tixier has just returned from a European tour where he presented music from his forthcoming self-produced album, Life of Sensitive Creatures. Tixier was able to successfully fund his album through Kickstarter this past spring, and described the inspiration for his new original compositions thusly:
Two years ago, I left Paris to move to New York in search of a new life. New York is the city where the finest Artists reside or pass through and I knew that in order to continue my growth as a person and a musician, I needed to engulf myself in this life. Not realizing how competitive and tough NYC can be for a musician, the challenges I saw around me were the inspiration to write new music about this new life and experience. What I have written for this album is a reflection about the complexity of life - the love, the sadness and the joys that challenge us to keep growing as individuals. Bringing us back to our basic and natural instinct of sensitivity. Music is the language that goes beyond words by reaching our emotions; connecting vibrations and sounds with feelings. This album's music is Life of Sensitive Creatures.
Please join us at the Gallery to hear this new and deeply-felt music before it comes out on record later this year.Pianist Tony Tixier plays The Jazz Gallery on Tuesday, November 1st, 2016.
