The Jazz Gallery Presents: Sullivan Fortner

Returning from our end-of-summer break, The Jazz Gallery kicks of the Fall 2023 season with an evening of solo piano with Sullivan Fortner. Whether collaborating with the likes of Cécile McLorin Salvant, working with his trio, or taking the stage solo, Fortner’s pianism reflects a deep knowledge of history and playful sensibility. His rendition of “On the Sunny Side of the Street” merges stride and boogie-woogie with Monk-ish curveballs and gnarled counterpoint.

Fortner’s sets at the Gallery this week are sure to traverse similar aesthetic distances.
