The Jazz Gallery Presents: Yosvany Terry Afro-Caribbean Quintet

This week, saxophonist Yosvany Terry returns to The Jazz Gallery with his Afro-Caribbean Quintet. In recent years, Terry has explored an expanding stylistic palette in his musical practice, working with his chamber outfit Bohemian Trio, composing for classical ensembles, and even developing a new opera, titled Aponte.

However, Terry still frequently returns to his home base small groups where Afro-Cuban traditions merge with contemporary improvisation. This year, Terry has played with these ensembles in Boston and Southern California (which you can check out below), and will return to Europe with them for a summer tour.

Terry’s approach to Afro-Caribbean jazz is built deep into The Jazz Gallery’s foundation, and it is always a treat to host him on our stage.

The Yosvany Terry Afro-Caribbean Quintet plays The Jazz Gallery on Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22, 2024. The group features Mr. Terry on saxophones and chekeré, Osmany Paredes on piano, Yunior Terry on bass, Mauricio Herrera on percussion, and Obed Calvaire (June 21) and Julian Miltemberger (June 22) on drums. Sets are at 7:30 and 9:30 P.M. E.D.T. each night. $35 general admission ($20 for members), $45 reserved cabaret seating ($30 for members), $20 livestream access ($5 for members) for each set.
